Topic: DEVOPs: A Solution for your Backlog?
Description: With the pace of business change increasing dramatically, most IT organizations are struggling to keep up with demand for their services. At the same time, long-standing barriers and siloes between developers (who write and test code/apps), and operations specialists (who deploy and maintain code/apps), lead to artificially long timeframes for putting solutions in end users’ toolkits. DEVOPs, which at the least provides developers with streamlined means for provisioning infrastructure and deploying code, and at the most merges these rolls altogether, holds great potential for breaking down the backlog. With the tremendous capabilities of “the cloud” for rapid provisioning under the control of developers, and agile methods that promote frequent deployment of incremental improvements, DEVOPs makes even more sense. Come the next ITEE meeting to discuss your challenges with program/app development, your use of (or choice not to use) DEVOPS/cloud to address them, and your results/quandaries to date.
