Emergency Health Grant for Artists 2018 Application
Women’s Center for Creative Work (WCCW) is excited to announce the third year of our Emergency Health Grant for Artists initiative! With funding from both an anonymous donor through the Tides Foundation and Metabolic Studio, we will provide over $80,000 in grants to individual artists to support emergency medical, mental health, and dental needs. This year we are excited to facilitate the grant with community partners: Mujeres de Maiz, Sustainable Little Tokyo and artist and organizer Cori Alegria.

Artists are eligible to apply for up to $3,000. Typical grants will be between $2,000-$3,000. We welcome applications from professional artists of all disciplines who live in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Orange Counties and identify as one or more of the following: female, transgender, low-income, or person of color (including, but not limited to, individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, Middle Eastern, or Pacific Islander descent.)

In addition, each grant recipient can also obtain 3 hours of consultation (case-management) within 3 months of receiving the award. This service will be provided by Tricia Smith, MSW, social work consultant, in order to make recipients aware of any resources or programs for which they may be eligible. Tricia can meet in person at the Women’s Center for Creative Work, over the phone, or via Skype.

Applications will be accepted between February 15th and March 15th, 2018. A panel comprised of representatives from the community partner organizations and a medical professional will select grant recipients based on applicant eligibility, artistic merit, urgency of need, and the potential for the grant to be used effectively.

Information and Grant-writing assistance sessions will be held at WCCW and in connection with community partner organizations during the open application period. These sessions will offer those applying an opportunity to ask questions and get help writing and editing their application. Stay tuned for more information!

This granting opportunity fosters our ongoing goal of providing holistic support for artists and makers through feminist principles and seeks to create a conversation around the connections between gender, race, sexuality, class, privilege, access, and health.

Applications will be accepted between February 15th and March 15th, 2018
They are due by 11:59pm PST on March 15th.

Application must be completed in one sitting. Google Form times out after 30 minutes and will erase your responses, so it is recommended to first type out your answers on a document and copy and paste into the form when ready.
