Due to high demand, rides or classes should be requested at least 3-4 weeks in advance
Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia Mission:
For the past forty-eight years, the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia has advocated for better bicycling infrastructure, access, and opportunity – promoting safety and community health through our classes, rides, and events.
Better Bike Share Partnership Values:
As part of the Better Bike Share Partnership, the Bicycle Coalition provides education and outreach services to support community-focused rides, classes, and events by using Indego Bike Share as a primary tool. This programming focuses on serving low-income residents and BIPOC communities, by helping connect them to opportunities and resources for jobs, education, green spaces, food, and mental/physical health services. While improving bicycling for all without losing sight of the fact that bicycling is fun.
BBSP Classes & Rides Overview:
The Bicycle Coalition offers a variety of activities such as Urban Riding Basics, Learn to Ride Classes, Skill Building Courses, and Community Group Rides.
Request Considerations:
-Group Rides: must start and end at an Indego station. Ideal turnout ranges from 5-10 people. Rides are led at a leisurely pace and while we block off two hours for the event, the ride itself is approximately 40-60 minutes.
-Urban Riding Basics Classes: can be held in any indoor setting with enough seats for participants. Having a projector on-site is a plus but not required.
-Learn to Ride Classes: must be located within walking distance of an Indego station. These classes require an open space at least the size of a basketball court.
-Partnership Requirements: If you don't meet any of the criteria listed below, please email
betterbikeshare@bicyclecoalition.org for instructions on how to submit non-BBSP related requests.
Location: Organizations requesting a ride or class must meet or hold the event within the Indego service area - View the Indego station map here -
