Over the last six years, California's community colleges have been leading the nation in serving incarcerated and formerly incarcerated students. Our Rising Scholars programs serve more than 16,000 incarcerated and formerly incarcerated students each semester, and that number keeps growing. These programs change lives, transform futures, and help Californians combat the devastating impacts of mass incarceration. As of January 2023, 80 of the 116 community colleges will have funded Rising Scholars programs. De Anza College is one of these colleges, and we are thrilled to welcome this campus and community into our growing movement!
