Introduction to Essential Skills for International School Counselors
Thank you for taking a few minutes to tell us a bit about your professional self, your experiences and your hopes for the course! We are looking forward to meeting and learning with everyone this summer!
Your course facilitators,
The Steve's :) (Hisler and Ayling)
Use the scale to tell us about your years of school counseling experience. 0= No school counseling experience...yet; 1= one - two years counseling experience; 2= three - five years school counseling experience; 3= more than five years school counseling experience.
No school counseling experience ...yet!
More than 5 years of school counseling experience and still going strong!
Whether you are currently an international school counselor or one in the making, we want to know a bit more about your professional background. Tell us a bit about where you've worked and in what capacity.
Counseling/Pastoral/Advisory Areas of Interest
We each have areas of specific interest in our work with students, staff and families. Tell us about yours!
Three things I hope to gain from this course are:
Part of Being a Participant is Participating!
We strongly encourage each participant to get involved by leading one of the activities listed below. We are all risk takers! Which one(s) of the following opportunities would you be willing to take on? (Make it easy on yourself...share with us something from one of your areas of interest, a strategy you've tried, an activity you've led, etc. Don't recreate the wheel!) We'll officially sign up when the course starts, but your responses here will give us insight into what this year's participants are thinking.
Gems - no more than 2-3 minutes; sharing an important perspective, point of view, a-ha moment
Warm-up/Ice Breaker - no more than 5 minutes, leading an activity to get participants moving/thinking/involved, using few (if any) easily manageable props
Guide on the Side - no more than 5-8 minutes, sharing an area of expertise/interest
