Usernames for Wikimedia platforms

The Society recognises that this can be sensitive information. We ask for usernames so that members of the committee can take the applicants editing history into account when considering their application for membership. The username information will not be included in the Register of Members, or be included in the information that may be made available for inspection by members under s39 of the Constitution.

Donations may be tax-deductible

The Society is a registered charity. It can issue receipts for donations, and these donations to the Society may be tax-deductible. Note that membership fees are not tax-deductible.

Privacy statement

We collect personal information from you, including information about you, including your name and contact details. We collect this personal information so that we can manage the activities of the Society and meet legal requirements of the Incorporated Societies Act 2022. Providing some information is optional. If you choose not to enter the details that are required in the membership application form, we'll be unable to process your application for membership. We keep your information safe by storing it in secure platforms and only allowing authorised persons to have access. We keep your information for the period while you are a member, and until your membership is terminated, at which point we will securely destroy it. You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong.
