We are looking for partnerships with small to large sized businesses, community groups, neighbourhood associations, organizations, churches, and not-for profits anywhere across Ontario.
WR Grassroots Response is 100% volunteer-led. We receive donations from the community to do what we are doing.
We need more help.
We need more people to recognize that Ukrainians are not only going homeless in Ontario but that the system our Canadian government established for them to enter Canada is setting them up for failure.
In the short term they need help with finding hosts as well as landlords that will rent to them (even though they have not credit history, employment, or don't speak English), they need help with finding quick employment within 2-3 weeks of arriving in Canada (They will not have a driver's license yet and may not get one, they previous experience probably won't apply, they may not speak English at the level normally expected, they may not have a way to get into work, and they may not actually be in the Country yet), they need help with food/clothing/personal electronics, and they need help with learning English.
We are looking for partners who will find or help create:
a) additional hosts and housing options (including emergency warming stations)
b) employment quickly for Ukrainians
c) creation of food, hygiene and educational kits.
d) childcare for Ukrainian children
e) mental health support
f) other
