A participatory and volunteer-driven event, our annual Festival is a spectacular, all-ages celebration of community that takes place on the last full weekend in July. This year, the Victoria Park Lantern Festival will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2015 (or Sunday, July 26 in the event of poor weather).
Activities in the Park kick off at 2:00 pm on Festival Day with a line-up of live music, workshops, games, community booths, face painting, a glass jar lantern making workshop and other entertainment. At dusk, the crowd swells. Following a mass lantern-lighting in the lower Park, the lantern procession winds its way up the hill to the installation and everyone settles down to enjoy a night-capping fire show and performance.
FESTIVAL DAY VOLUNTEERS
The Victoria Park Lantern Festival would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of volunteers. As you can imagine, most volunteers are required on the day of the Festival (July 25th), or alternatively the rain date of July 26th. Ideally, volunteers should be available on both days.
As a volunteer, we expect you to dedicate approximately 2-4 hours of your time on the day of the festival. Punctuality, teamwork, open communication, and respect are of the utmost importance, and most especially a positive attitude. In return, volunteers will receive free refreshments in the designated Volunteer Area, meet new friends, and share a memorable experience with the rest of the team.
A range of volunteer opportunities are available. On the application form, you may choose as many as you like. We will do our best to match you with your preferred role(s), however you will ultimately be placed where your skills are needed most.
We thank you for your interest and involvement in the Victoria Park Lantern Festival. Please ensure that you reply to all the questions and check all the boxes that apply to you.
