2019 Pablove Shutterbugs Overnight Alumni Camp Application <Apply by March 15th>
June 11 - June 14, 2019 (4 days, 3 nights)
Pablove Shutterbugs, the signature arts program of The Pablove Foundation, teaches children living with cancer to develop their creative voice through the art of photography. Learning photography concepts alongside other kids undergoing similar experiences empowers our students to express themselves, exercise their independence, and practice new ways of seeing- all while having fun!

This four-day, three-night overnight camp is open to past Pablove Shutterbugs students, ages 8-18 years old, who have already participated in the Pablove Shutterbugs 8-Week Mentorship Program, 5-Week Program, or Pablove Shutterbugs 5-Day Summer Camp. During the camp, students will attend intermediate level photography classes that will expand upon their knowledge of photography, improve their skills, and further develop their self-expression. The classes will be taught by experienced teaching artists and special guests. Students will have the opportunity to interact with other Pablove Shutterbugs alumni, explore the beautiful natural setting of Lake Arrowhead, CA, and participate in fun extracurricular activities like swimming, playing tennis, playing sand volleyball, and more.

Students are expected to bring their cameras from Pablove Shutterbugs with them to the camp. We will have a limited number of loaner cameras available on site for students to use if students no longer have their cameras or their cameras no longer function.

Please note that the camp does not have an active site for chemotherapy treatment.

COST: There is no cost for children to participate in this program. All accommodations for the camp including bussing from Los Angeles to Lake Arrowhead, housing, food, equipment, classes and extracurricular activities are free of cost to campers. However, travel to Los Angeles is not covered. A limited amount of travel scholarship funds for students who live outside of Los Angeles will be available to cover airfare and hotel stays for students who qualify. If a student does not qualify, other travel expenses such as plane tickets, hotel stays, and ground transportation outside of the scope of the camp experience are the sole responsibility of the family.

FULL NEED-BASED TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIPS: We have a limited number of full need-based travel scholarships available to cover the cost of the trip. This scholarship includes the cost of airfare, hotel accommodations (if needed), meals, and transportation to and from the airport for your child (within the scope of the camp experience). To apply for the full scholarship, submit a copy of your 2018 tax return (form 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ). Full scholarship applications without documentation will not be considered.

PARTIAL TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIPS: We have a limited number of partial need-based travel scholarships for students that will cover a portion of airfare fees. This scholarship is normally reserved for those who do not qualify for the full need-based scholarship but could use additional assistance with travel costs. Families who apply for but are not awarded full-based scholarships will be automatically considered for a partial scholarship. To apply for the partial travel scholarship, please indicate your interest on the application. Tax forms are not needed.

ADMISSION: Pablove strives to create a diverse camp environment with a balance of boys, girls and different age groups. As we are expecting a high volume of applications this year, therefore admission is not guaranteed. First priority will be given to Pablove Shutterbugs alumni who have never attended camp, and second priority is for returning campers who have attended less than two times. Students who are participating in the overnight camp for a third year in a row or have participated in programming for the first time during the 2019 calendar year will be given last priority and on a space available basis. However, we encourage everyone to apply as spots usually open up right until camp begins. Application deadline is [March 15, 2019] - the earlier you apply, the better! We will notify you of your application status by [March 29, 2019].

Please complete all the information and submit it online. After completing the first part of your application, you will receive PDF copies of the additional forms that you will need to download, sign, and submit in order to complete your application.
