Author Mentor Match Round 6 Mentor Application
Thank you for your interest in Author Mentor Match Round 6! Author Mentor Match is a program that focuses on building deep and fruitful connections between aspiring writers and more established authors. AMM promises entrants who are chosen at least one full manuscript review with notes, as well as a query critique, but we hope that mentors and mentees will bond and work on more together. The terms of your mentor/mentee relationship are flexible and up to you and your mentee to decide! There is no ticking clock and you can work with your mentee at yours and their own pace. We look forward to reviewing your application.

You should be agented or published, or have a book deal. This program is for writers pursuing traditional publishing, thus our mentors must be familiar with that process.

Round 6 submissions will be open March 1-5, with mentorship beginning in late March. You will need to be available between March 5 and 20 to review submissions and select a mentee. The bulk of editorial work will take place April through June. (it is OK if you cannot get your mentee an edit letter immediately, as long as you set those expectations with them.)

Please fill this out by January 21. We will inform all mentors of their status by early February.

Have you mentored in AMM before?
If yes, what round or rounds did you mentor?
Your answer
YA or MG? (that you write) *

Interested in mentoring: *
This round, we are going to ask mentors to accept submissions for YA OR MG--not both. We find 99% of the time mentors who are open to both, choose to mentor YA, so in the interest of providing a better process to our MG applicants, we'll ask mentors who want MG to focus on MG.
Mentoring genres *
Please try to limit yourself to the top three genres you are most likely to choose. We want to get a sense of whether you will be primarily a contemporary (and related genres) mentor or an SFF (and related genres) mentor. This will help us with mentor genre balance. We basically just ask you don't select EVERY single genre option as that will make it harder for us.

Genre preferences
We're interested to know, briefly, what specific sub-types of stories you're interested in, within your preferred genres. ie: rom-coms, space books, science fantasy, historical fantasy, contemporary with speculative twist, etc. Feel free to share books you love that reflect the kinds of projects you're looking to mentor, if that helps.

What has your publishing journey been like?
We just would love to get a sense of your publishing experiences, so far. There's no right answer. But if you wrote and queried and shelved 5 books before getting your agent and selling the 6th, that's good to know. Have you been on submission and not sold a book? Have you left one agent and found another? No one experience is the "best" or 'right' one--we aim to assemble a team of diverse experiences! Tell us as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.
