Welcome to the PIPE-LINE Data Science Faculty Fellow application for the 2026-2027 Cohort. Fellows will:
- Learn about recent developments in data science
methodologies and pedagogy, including content-with-context and
culturally relevant approaches to data science teaching and learning.
- Join PIPE-LINE’s Community of Data Science Learners (CDSL) across California State University Fullerton, University of California Irvine, Rio Hondo College, and Riverside City College.
- Earn a $1500 stipend each year for two years.
Minimum requirements: Employed in a role that requires teaching at CSUF. We encourage instructors from all disciplines to apply.
Participant expectations: Project PIPE-LINE Fellows will commit to a two-year cycle of developing, implementing, adopting, and revising activities that can be used as part of an introductory data science course or to bring data science concepts to students in other disciplines.
- Spring 2026: Learn about data science methodologies and pedagogical approaches for teaching data science through a series of four workshops (Jan. 30, Feb. 27, Mar. 13, and May 1)
- Summer 2026: Collaborate with peers to finalize a lesson plan
- Fall 2027: Implement data science lessons in your classrooms and participate in a peer reflection cycle
- Winter 2027: Refine lessons and submit reflection narrative
- Spring 2027: Implement portion of another Fellow’s data science module
- Summer 2027: Continue brainstorming and interacting with the CDSL members the Data Science in the Classroom conference at RCC
