LOOKOUT is actively looking for stories. As Arizona's only nonprofit news source exclusively covering the LGBTQ+ community, we are looking for hard-hitting news stories that don't just inform, but help keep people in power accountable.
Please note: We do not accept opinion or editorial pieces, essays, poetry, or events (arts and entertainment).
Stories we'd love to see:
- A character-driven feature on how the state is managing the monkeypox outbreak, and what it means for the future of gay and trans people who will have to navigate the disease in the future;
- A data-informed investigation on police responses to same-sex domestic violence calls;
- A roundup of all the LGBTQ+ legislation proposed and its connections with lobbyists and companies who fund them;
- A solutions-driven piece on community interventions to drug overdoses in queer spaces.
All of our stories pay 20-35 cents a word, based on experience and breadth of the story, and provide for reimbursement for gas and records payments.
