CURE Summer Institute: SRJC 2017
We’re excited that Dr. Erin Dolan will be returning to SRJC this summer for a repeat of her wonderful CURE Summer Institute. Not only is Dr. Dolan is one of the leading researchers working in the field of Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences, but she is an inspiring facilitator and excellent teacher in her own right. Each participant was able to draw on Dr. Dolan’s depth of knowledge, as we planned and developed our individual course work.

CUREs are a way to incorporate research into the curriculum in part to foster learning of key competencies in our students ( such as mathematical reasoning, experimental design, etc). They also develop students’ interest in and excitement about science (discovery is one of the elements that makes science interesting), and motivation to continue in science.
The CURE Summer Institute agenda will focus on two main areas: Important pedagogical considerations for using CUREs in the classroom.Workshops that provide an opportunity to apply those to our specific project
