Train to be a Yellow-billed Cuckoo Survey Leader
Tucson Audubon is partnering with the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Arizona Game and Fish Department, and Audubon Arizona to offer a special training session this upcoming July. This is an official training and could qualify you to be added officially to the Tucson Audubon Society survey permit. This training will be no cost to volunteers and once completed you could possibly be qualified to lead a survey team into areas of interest coordinated by Tucson Audubon's Conservation Department.

The training is July 10-11, 2018. The first day, July 10, is a classroom day in Tucson at Pima Community College Downtown campus in the Amethyst Room. The second day, July 11, will begin with a morning field practice on Sonoita Creek in Patagonia, followed by a visit to more arid cuckoo habitat in the mountains. You will be practicing cuckoo surveys on Sonoita Creek at The Nature Conservancy's Patagonia-Sonoita Creek Preserve and Tucson Audubon's Paton Center.

Anyone that has helped with the last three years of Tucson Audubon's Yellow-billed Cuckoo surveys is encouraged to do this free workshop and be added to the permit. If you are interested in participating in the July 10-11 workshop please contact Jennie as soon as possible at jmacfarland@tucsonaudubon.org, we need to get some info to USFWS before hand.

Any volunteers who do this training will be able to help lead some survey routes of interest later this summer! Please join our Yellow-billed Cuckoo survey leader team!

Did you help with any Tucson Audubon Yellow-billed Cuckoo Surveys in 2015-2017?
Your answer
Are you available for the July 10-11 Official survey training? July 10 in Tucson, July 11 in Patagonia.
Your answer
Can we put you down for the training July 10-11?
If you are joining us to train as a Yellow-billed Cuckoo Survey Leader please send your resume to Jennie as soon as possible. It does not need to be anything fancy or too specific but should emphasize any bird survey experience you have (any and all volunteer surveys are great!) and especially emphasize if you have helped with Yellow-billed Cuckoo surveys in previous years. This will be sent to USFWS so they can do much of the work required to add you to the permit before you even do the training. Then maybe you can lead surveys right after the training.
A copy of your responses will be emailed to the address you provided.
