for a commemorative event honoring the 80th anniversary of the argument in the infamous Korematsu case in which Justice Jackson was a dissenter. This event is co-sponsored with the Robert H. Jackson Center and the Asian Pacific Bar Association - DC Chapter.
The program will consist of two parts: the first is an abridged reenactment of the Supreme Court oral argument in the criminal case. The second is a hypothetical civil case, using the procedures now quite common in cases like this, seeking to prevent the government from interning Mr. Korematsu, while leaving the substantive law unchanged from 1944.
