Dear colleague,

Astronomy in Africa Survey has been initiated by the Science Committee of the African Astronomical Society (AfAS). It aims to obtain a clear picture of the current status of astronomy and astrophysics and developments across the continent. The overview of ongoing activities, achievements and also the needs will be used to design proper models and action items that can help to address and support current/future initiatives. This will lead to a stronger network of African astronomers and enable broader inter-African collaborations through facilitation and creation of joint projects and initiatives and overall improved visibility of astronomy development in Africa. The Astronomy in Africa Survey presented here is divided into 5 sections focussing on general information, institutional information, research in astronomy and astrophysics (A&A), human capacity development, and instrumentation and infrastructure development.

To be fully completed survey will take a maximum of 10-20 min. The collaboration of each researcher is fundamental to the successful realization of this initiative. We, therefore, appreciate very much your feedback and acknowledge your dedicated time.
