Study Title:
Undergraduate Research in the College of Education: Understanding Mechanisms to Involvement
Time required:
This survey should take about 5-10 minutes to complete.
Purpose of the research study:
This study will explore College of Education students’ awareness, interest, and involvement in undergraduate research opportunities at the University of Florida. The results from this study will help define a model for current participation in undergraduate research, which will be used to determine strategies and techniques to better encourage undergraduate participation in College of Education undergraduate research opportunities.
What you will be asked to do in the study:
You will be asked to complete a brief survey exploring your current awareness, interest, and involvement in undergraduate research in the UF College of Education. You will answer a series of questions pertaining to this topic. Following completion of the survey, you will be asked if you would like to volunteer to participate in an interview. If you select “yes”, you will be interviewed for roughly 15-30 minutes about your perspective on undergraduate research.

Risks and benefits:
There are no risks or discomforts anticipated. There are no direct benefits of participation
for you.
Confidentiality:
There is a minimal risk that security of any online data may be breached, but since (1) no identifying information will be collected, and (2) Google Forms uses several layers of encryption and firewalls, it is highly unlikely that a security breach of the online data will result in any adverse consequence for you. Compensation:
You will not be compensated for your participation in this study.

We have not received funding for this research.
May the researcher(s) benefit from the research?:
We may benefit professionally if the results of the study are presented at meetings or in scientific journals. We may also use these results to inform future strategies related to undergraduate research in the College of Education at the University of Florida.
Withdrawal from the study:
You are free to withdraw your consent and to stop participating in this study at any time without consequence. You can decline to answer any question you don’t wish to answer.
If you choose to withdraw at any time, your responses will be discarded and will not be used in this study.
You will be withdrawn from the study by the researchers if you do not meet the criteria for participation (i.e., you are not a current student with a major in the College of Education).
