The theme of this year's conference is Supporting Math Students in Today’s World, focusing on transforming introductory and gateway mathematics courses through active learning, equity-centered practices, and holistic student support.
The conference will begin with a panel of current mathematics students, who will share perspectives of themselves and their peers on learning in introductory math courses. This will be followed by faculty speakers in parallel sessions.
We welcome proposals that address:
Active learning strategies for gateway and foundational courses
- Designing engaging tasks and activities for diverse learners
Facilitating inclusive group work and classroom discussions
Collaboration between faculty and tutoring/academic support services
Assessment practices aligned with active learning
Holistic approaches to student success and wellbeing
Equity-centered pedagogy and culturally responsive teaching
Building mathematical communities and sense of belonging
All sessions should engage participants through active learning rather than traditional presentation formats.
