Bartlesville Historical Trail
Thanks to the hard work of Bill Alexander, all youth and parents can enjoy a three mile hike inside of Bartlesville Oklahoma to learn about our History. You can download the booklet or come to the Scout Shop and pick a booklet up and start your adventure. At the end of your Trail, come back to the Scout Shop and purchase your Patch for each participant. You will learn about how this area was inhabited for a number of centuries by plains Indians. In 1803, the area that became  Oklahoma was purchased from France, and within a few years the US government began to use the area to create a new homeland for Indians being removed from the east coast displacing the indigenous population. This area got the name of Indian Territory, and was inhibited by the Cherokee Indian Nation. In 1909, the first Scout Troop started in Pawhuska, chartered through England since the Boy Scouts of America were not charted in the US until 1910.  This year as a Council we celebrate 111 years of Scouting. The Cherokee Area Council, Boy Scouts of America is a United Way Partner Agency.
