Teacher Opportunity Corps Application 2019-2020
NOTE: This application is for students who are already enrolled at Teachers College. If you are new to Teachers College, you will have an opportunity to share your interest in TOC when you complete your general Teachers College application!

The Teacher Opportunity Corps II (TOC) program is funded by the New York State Education Department and is designed to increase the number of New York State teachers from underrepresented groups. TOC II students complete a 10 month internship in a New York City "Priority" or "Focus" school, attend TOC II seminars with renowned TC faculty, and gain a variety of benefits including 6 tuition points, a generous travel stipend, access to exclusive professional development opportunities, and one of the most supportive peer networks at Teachers College.

PARTICIPANT ELIGIBILITY
-Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident; international students are not eligible
-Must be a New York State Resident who has lived in NY at least 12 months prior to submitting an application for this program (proof of 12 months of residency will be required)
-Must be enrolled in an initial or professional teacher certification program at Teachers College
-Must be committed to teaching in NY after graduation for at least 2 years, preferably in an urban setting

In addition, candidates from the following backgrounds will be given first priority in the admissions process: Black/African American; Hispanic/Latino, American Indian and Alaskan Native; Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander; Asian.

Second priority will be given to individuals who are economically disadvantaged.

Third priority will be given to individuals who are not historically underrepresented nor economically disadvantaged.

The application deadline is June 30, 2019, but late applications may be considered if there is space. Admissions decisions will be shared after June 30th, 2019.
