'Cultivating Flight in Blue Skies' is a new residency and commission opportunity produced by Coventry Biennial, DASH and Talking Birds which is designed to support a D/deaf or disabled visual artist from Coventry or Warwickshire to undertake a residency with the aim of producing a new artwork or project which will be presented as a part of Coventry Biennial 2019.

The residency is offered by Talking Birds as an addition to their current Nest residency programme which is focused on supporting D/deaf or disabled artists to take their ideas to the next level.

During this residency the artist will be working towards making a new artwork or project which will then be commissioned by DASH and Coventry Biennial.

The successful visual artist will be provided with an accessible work space, will benefit from mentoring, constructive critical input and production support from the 3 partner organisations and will receive:

Residency fee: £900 plus additional access needs.
Commission fee: £600 (inc materials etc).

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an informal interview at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum on the 22nd of March to discuss the project.
