Petition in support of increased housing density and diversity in Ann Arbor
This petition is being circulated by Neighbors for More Neighbors A2, a group of Ann Arbor residents working toward a more inclusive Ann Arbor.

As individuals and organizations in support of expanding housing opportunities, we applaud the direction of the city's draft Comprehensive Land Use Plan as an important step toward adding and diversifying housing in Ann Arbor. We urge the City Council to approve a plan that allows more homes in all neighborhoods, and promotes a wide range of housing types including affordable housing.

We support the draft plan because:
  • It will create more chances for people of all backgrounds and income levels to live in Ann Arbor.
  • It is crafted to address past inequities affecting communities of color and lower-income residents.
  • It builds on our community's support of affordable housing -- through our millage and construction of affordable housing on city-owned land.
  • We are one of the most economically segregated areas in the country. Ann Arbor is a better and more vibrant city when everyone can afford to live here.
We also applaud the city's public input process, which has been underway for over a year and goes well beyond what is required by state law. We urge the City Council to approve a plan that increases housing density and diversity.
