Family Members: RAP Focus Group Pre-Survey
Do you want to be a part of the change? Sharing your experience can make a difference.
The Reentry Advocacy Project (RAP) is a community-based peer-lead and peer-run advocacy organization for formerly incarcerated individuals. RAP provides support and fellowship for persons directly impacted by the criminal justice system. RAP advocates for social change and reducing barriers to positive integration by actively participating in civic affairs, presenting to community groups, and serving as mentors and role models to other individuals with lived experience in the criminal justice system.
In an effort to hear the voices and concerns of formerly incarcerated citizens in Travis County, RAP is sponsoring a focus group and community forum initiative. The purpose of the RAP Focus Group and Community Forum Initiative is to identify the needs of justice-involved individuals by elevating their voices. The focus groups are designed to engage formerly incarcerated persons and their family members in candid and impactful discussions. The goal of these focus groups is to better understand the barriers and obstacles they face and to direct future policy and programmatic changes to alleviate barriers to successful reentry.
This survey will help us hear your voice. It is also a prerequisite for those who would like to participate in the virtual focus groups that will take place from June 23rd - June 27th at select times. Those participating in the virtual focus group sessions will be given a $50 HEB gift card for their participation.
Currently, the focus group participation is limited to Travis County residents. If you are a family member of someone who has been formerly incarcerated, please fill out this survey below.
If you yourself have been formerly incarcerated, please fill out a different survey at this link:
If you have any questions, please email
Note: Personal information collected from this survey will not be shared. The results from the survey and the focus groups will be aggregated in a finalized report. The report will be used for future policy work and to provide insights to RAP’s partner organizations for their advocacy work in the criminal justice space. If you are selected to participate in a virtual focus group session, video and audio from the session will be recorded and used strictly for internal information gathering purposes.
