What is a Communicant?
“Communicant” comes from a Latin word that means “to share with.” It’s been used for centuries as a title for those who share the Lord’s Supper together. We believe that the Lord's Supper is a sacrament that brings the grace of God to believers. The Lord's Supper, also called Communion, is a sharing in the sacrifice of Jesus, publicly professing our faith in him and reliance on his grace.
A “communicant” is one who takes the Lord's Supper with the Church.
Why have a Communicants Class?
While children of believers are considered part of the visible church, they are “non-communing members.” Children and teens do not partake of the Lord's Supper until they personally profess a by-faith relationship in Jesus.

To assist parents in leading their children to this ownership of faith, and to help explore the faith more deeply, we provide a class helping children and teens to clearly understand the gospel, their relationship to God, and what God is doing in this world through his Church.

What's next?

Communicants Class will be a blend of hands-on object lessons, brief teaching times, along with parent-student follow up time after each segment. Built into the day is some free time to give "brain breaks" and Chick-fil-A for lunch!

After completing this one-day class, children and teens are invited to profess their faith in Christ. If they desire to do so, an interview with two pastors or elders is conducted. If the expression of faith seems genuine (and not from the prompting of the parent), the child or teen becomes a full "communing member" of our church. It is a sacred and meaningful rite of passage in the life of a covenant child.
