4 Communities in partnership with 4 Mothers and Babies HBV Vaccine Uptake Contest Idea 2024

Instructions: Join 4 Mothers and Babies in a unique opportunity to increase HBV vaccination uptake among new babies in Nigeria. If you need more information about the contest, check out the rules on our website: www.4cbyc.org 


We welcome anyone to submit ideas to the open call – girls, boys, men, and women. However, if you are between 9 and 13 years old, you must have parental permission to participate in the contest.  

If you are interested, you can submit an application in one of the following ways by March 17th, 2024 at 11:59 PM WAT

  • Bring it to the NIMR office here: Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), Clinical Science department, 6 Edmund Crescent Yaba, Lagos, and ask for the following contact persons: Dr. Abideen Salako or Dr. Fola Akinsolu

Judging Criteria

Relevance
  • This refers to whether the idea is relevant to mothers and babies in the Nigerian context.
Innovation
  • To what extent is the submission unique, innovative, and novel?
  • Does the submission describe new opportunities to promote mothers in their communities to vaccinate their babies with the HBV vaccination?
Feasibility of implementing the solution
  • Feasibility refers to how easily and practically implementable the innovation would be in diverse Nigerian settings.
  • Would it work in rural and/or urban settings in Nigeria?
Equity
  • Does the idea empower mothers to vaccinate their babies for HBV?
  • How can we inspire the entire community to be allies?
You can participate as a team of up to 4. You only need to complete one application per team.

Semi-finalists will be notified of their selection through email or phone call by March 25, 2024.

For communities by communities in partnership with For Mothers and Babies is calling for submissions in response to the question:

How might we help to make sure that newborns get vaccinated against hepatitis B virus in Nigeria?

What is the title of your idea?  *

Describe how you will promote hepatitis B vaccinations for newborn babies in Nigerian communities? As you think through your idea, here are some questions that your submission could address (500 words maximum): *

i. What are messages, slogans, or ideas to promote hepatitis B vaccination among newborns in Nigeria?

 ii. What are creative ways to reach mothers and their family units in remote areas or with limited internet access? 

iii. How can we engage mothers, their family units, and communities to increase uptake of hepatitis B vaccination for newborns?
