About Secondhand Prose
Secondhand Prose is a used book store operated by the Friends of the Saint Johnsbury Athenaeum. The all-volunteer staff is responsible for greeting and assisting customers, managing book inventory, handling customer cash donations, maintaining well-ordered shelves in the public space, evaluating and accepting donated books, sorting and shelving books, and promoting the store. Volunteer training is provided.

Secondhand Prose is open Monday through Saturday, from 11am - 3pm. Volunteers may work one or more weekly 4-hour shifts or half shifts, or may volunteer less frequently or as a substitute.
