Summer Stars (updated on 5/15/23)
New Mark Middle School offers a summer transition session for 7th graders who will enter New Mark in the fall of 2023.  There will be two sessions, each held for two days: each day being three hours in length.  Session ONE dates are August 7th and 8th.  Session TWO dates are  August 9th and 10th.  To receive the full benefit of this program, students should attend both days in their session.  

Our program has been developed so that each day’s lesson is based upon learning from the previous day.  Transportation will be provided to and from New Mark.  You will receive bus stop information much closer to the start of the program.  If you ask to change the session you marked to attend once transportation is set up for you, you will have to provide your own transportation to the transition program.  There will be no lunch offered because each session runs from 8:00am to 11:00am.  There is not a charge for this program.

The intent of this summer transition program is to provide an appropriate and positive entrance into 7th grade, make new friends, and learn about middle school.  We will spend this time having your child become acquainted with daily middle school procedures and provide opportunities to meet future classmates.  You will receive a confirmation postcard for which session your student is enrolled in July, which is about two weeks before the session starts.  For other questions email Ms. Santee at marcy.santee@nkcschools.org.  After May 26, 2023, contact Mrs. Kooi at 816.321.5290.

If you would like your student to participate in this enrichment activity, please complete this survey by Friday, May 26, 2023 (the sooner, the better!).  Enrollment is based on first come, first served request to fill each session.  Please be sure to indicate the session you prefer.  We will do our best to honor your first choice.
