Welcome to Rising Leaders!

Welcome to the Rising Leaders 2024 UNapplication!! Rising Leaders is the ultimate leadership incubator for young Black men in the greater Portland area (Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington Counties). This summer's program is open to young Black men ages 15 and 16 years old. Applicants over 16 can still apply but younger applicants will take priority. Both CIS gender and trans Black male youth are encouraged to apply.

Rising Leaders 2024 takes place from June 23rd through August 8th, 2025. Rising Leaders is a three-year commitment, which will include the second year in the summer of 2025 and the final year in the summer of 2026. Throughout the school year, leadership programming will also be provided. Applicants must commit to the full three years to be accepted into our leadership incubator.

What is the UNapplication?

Regular applications are dry, boring, and too often discriminatory. The Word is Bond UNapplication is about unlocking your creativity and leadership and allowing you to show and tell us who you REALLY are. Our goal is to make applying for Word is Bond fun, stress-free, and find alternatives to traditional written responses. We will evaluate your UNapplication based on five categories: Creativity, Originality, Desire to Create Change, Potential, and Your Individual Character.
