Local Deeds helps families and individuals who work, or will work in our community, live in the community. The Program pays up to 16% of the home's value in exchange for a permanent deed restriction. Homes in Barnard, Bridgewater, Hartland, Plymouth, Pomfret, Reading, Woodstock will be considered. The deed restriction requires:
- At least one occupant, the Qualified Resident, must work, or will work, at least 25 hours per week for a business, organization or public or private entity located within a 16 mile radius of Woodstock Town Hall. Upon retirement the occupant will still be considered a qualified resident. The occupant can be either the homeowner or a long-term tenant.
- Short-term rentals (i.e., less than 30 days) are strictly prohibited.
- Annual proof of compliance must be provided.
Local Deeds will consider buyers who are not eligible for state down payment programs. Please consider this program first:
- Twin Pines Housing Trust (TPH) has a very generous program for eligible buyers interested in purchasing a home for $300,000 or less.
