Thank you for your interest in providing after school supper to San Francisco youth! The supper program provides nutritionally balanced meals to youth during after school programs. Thanks to the extension of waivers by the Federal government, all students at all schools will continue to be served all meals for free! For the 2021-22 school year, we will be providing all interested after school programs supper (no after school snacks will be available in the 2021-22 school year).
Please note that your programs menu (hot or cold suppers), staffing, and service model will be dependent on site specific details such as enrollment, infrastructure, SF DPH approval, and more. Once an application is received for your site, SNS will follow up individually with more detailed information, program expectations, next steps including training, confirming your service time, location, and SNS Dining Staff member (if applicable).
Line Service vs. Hand-Off Service:
> With Line Service, an SNS dining staff member will prepare, serve, and count all supper meals for your program. Supper must be served at the beginning of the after school program, within 30 min of the school day release. In order to qualify for this service, the Operations Manager will review estimated meal counts and determine if staffing can be provided. Please note that if your program enrollment changes and is less than the threshold to have an SNS dining staff member, your program may transition to a hand-off service model.
> With Hand-Off Service, supper meals will be packed in thermal bags by the SNS dining staff and handed off to the after school program. SNS staff will not be available during supper time, and the after school program staff is responsible for the meal distribution and counting. This option offers more flexibility for the after school program if you wish to serve supper at a later time during your program. We will work with you to determine which type of service works best.
