The Drone Journalism School - Oregon
The Poynter Institute, Google News Lab, The Drone Journalism Lab at the University of Nebraska, The National Press Photographers Association and DJI have joined forces to present an intensive three-day flight school for drone journalists.

This application is for the workshop in Portland, Oregon:

August 18-19-20 University of Oregon - School of Journalism and Communication (Portland)

Each workshop will include extensive teaching to help prepare drone unmanned aircraft pilots for the Part 107 FAA exam. Every participant will also have the opportunity for hands-on drone flight training.

The classes will run from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Tuition is $295.
Members of NABJ, NAHJ, AAJA, NAJA and NLGJA are eligible to apply below for a travel scholarship to help cover airfare and/or hotel costs. These are offered on a first come, first served basis.

We have reserved a block of hotel rooms at each location if participants wish to book a reservation at a discounted price.

Who Should Attend:
Seating at each seminar site will be limited to 60 participants. Journalists and journalism educators will get preferential admission. We welcome serious college students to apply. Newsrooms may send multiple participants.

Admission Deadlines:
Admission for each workshop will close one week prior to the event or before, if all of the seats are filled. This is first-come, first-served admissions.
