Oregon Trans Youth Surgical Access Survey
As our second generation of parent/family affirmed transgender and gender expansive youth enter their middle teen years in Oregon, more and more of them are seeking to take that 'next step' in their medical transition - "bottom surgery". In Oregon, the legal age of consent for surgical procedures is 15, and the Oregon Health Plan offers coverage for these procedures within the limitations of that law...however both health insurers and healthcare systems in which capable surgeons practice these very procedures are refusing to consider youth for "bottom surgery" until age 18.

TransActive Gender Center, parents, youth and their allies will be advocating for a change of policy wherever necessary so that these youth, many of whom transitioned to their true gender in very early childhood, can get the care they need to move into adulthood feeling congruent in their own bodies.

PLEASE TAKE THIS SHORT, CONFIDENTIAL AND ANONYMOUS SURVEY TO HELP US IN THIS ADVOCACY EFFORT.

Thank you!
