'Lift Every Voice and Sing' The Visual Art Piece: An Informational for Clergy
FOHTA Gallery, Lower Level, 2206 So Monroe Street, Arlington, Virginia 22206-2424
Greetings! My name is Felecia Brice McFail I am a African-American calligrapher who has being turning the spoken word into visual art for over 40 years. I have scripted African-American poems, hymns, speeches and quotes. I spent 2020 creating a layout & design for 'Lift Every Voice And Sing', which was unveiled on Juneteenth 2021 to commemorate Juneteenth becoming National Holiday. This 100+ year old song started out as a poem, then a hymn, then The Negro National Anthem and finally The Black National Anthem. It is now a visual piece of art with a mission. The piece is 24 x 54 inches, limited edition print of 225, signed & numbered, which includes certificate of authenticity & hanging frame, which represents a scroll of HOPE. I am reaching out to clergy of African-American Churches for support though contact connections, purchase for your church, your alma mater, an individual purchase or a donation so that 'Lift Every Voice & Sing' will grace every HBCU’s and Black Church nation-wide. The mission is to encourage the remembrance of our ancestors past struggles, the importance of continuing to improve our present lifestyle for all mankind and that future generations will . . . FOREVER STAND, TRUE TO OUR GOD, TRUE TO OUR NATIVE LAND. (L to R) Music by: J. Rosamond Johnson and Words by: James Weldon Johnson
