Dr. Seuss' Spring Read-In & "Wish List" at Central Elementary (4063 Polk Ave) on Friday, March 1, 2019 @ 11:30 AM - 1:15 PM
"Kiki, are you reading? Are you writing? Are you down with knowledge 'cause I need ya and I want ya to go to college!" -Drake

Your participation in our 19th Annual DR. SEUSS (Spring) Read-In will help Central Elementary students continue DREAMING BIG! The Read-In is set for Friday, 3/1/2019, from 11:30 AM to 1:15 PM at Central Elementary (City Heights Area: 4063 Polk Ave, San Diego, CA). We are calling on YOU, as well as your co-workers, friends and family--regardless of whether they work in the legal profession or not.

Central is a pre-k through 5th grade public school composed of a culturally diverse student body that speaks multiple languages. The kids face fierce societal and economic challenges, which Central seeks to address through means such as the free breakfast and lunch program.

There are two main ways you can help:

(1) READ-INS: In partnership with San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association (SDLRLA), Read-In volunteers are placed in reading teams and matched with specific classrooms. Readers contact their teachers in advance and bring requested classroom book donations, goodies for the kids, and school supplies. (*PLEASE NOTE* that food donations are prohibited due to school policy.) Readers spend time reading to their class and leading discussions about important topics such as career and college, often sharing stories about their own paths, their experiences in the legal profession, and how reading and school were steps to achieving their goals.

(2) DONATION DRIVE: In partnership with SDLRLA, we are organizing a school supply donation drive. Central Elementary created a list of critically needed school supplies, which we turned into a "Wish List". The Wish List includes basic school supplies, such as paper, pencils, erasers, crayons, tissues, etc. All you need to do is CLICK: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jqgRS69n9D6md-fSHn_FYQZjKvG_XBmS-HhdL_zlaHo/edit?usp=sharing (delivery address: 4063 Polk Ave, San Diego, CA 92105). If you would like to round up a few individuals to purchase ONE item on the Wish List list, please contact lc.communityoutreachc@gmail.com so we can connect you!!!

Feel free to share this form with your friends, family and colleagues!!!! We are *VERY* THANKFUL that you are taking the time to help us help Central Elementary.
