All staff must be informed of policies and procedures related to the use of Restraint and Seclusion.
All staff must be provided annual training on positive behavior supports.

A restraint or seclusion is only used if a student is in IMMINENT danger to self or others. Restraint and seclusion are not used for compliance or punishment. Use of restraint or seclusion shall end when a student no longer poses an imminent danger to self or others OR a medical condition occurs and the student is at risk for harm.

Certain restraints are not allowed (mechanical, chemical, adverse behavior interventions, prone or supine restraint, contraindicated due to medical issues)

Seclusion is the most restrictive physical intervention. During seclusion, a student has to be monitored at all times. Staff must look for physical signs of distress and obtain medical assistance if necessary.

A student’s physical and psychological well being are always being assessed during the use of restraint and seclusion.

Parents/Guardians are notified for EVERY use of a restraint or seclusion. Parents/Guardians have a right to request a debriefing after any incident.

Every school has a Safe Crisis Management (SCM) core team who is responsible for responding to dangerous behavior and implement R/S if needed. All staff have to be notified of core team members.

working in the event you need that team's support.

Jessamine County Schools has to regularly review the use or restraint and seclusion and report data.
Staff who use emergency physical safety interventions are routinely trained and certified
