Thanks for your interest in volunteering at Bathers Library! For context—Bathers is not a nonprofit and relies entirely on member funding and a bit of sales from the shop. At the moment we have no paid staff. Currently, Justin Carder (Bathers founder) is pretty much running the whole show! In terms of sustainability, it would be rad to have more folks get involved in to help keep the space going.
We've tried some volunteer organizing systems in the past—without too much success. We're trying a new system that sorts folks into "Volunteer Groups based on areas of interest each with a group lead to help hold the whole thing together. Hopefully this will help folks plug in and get a chance to work on the parts of Bathers that they're most interested in.
Right now the areas are:
Library
Help make the library functional, accessible and exciting. Organize books, create reading lists, help get book donations, and more!
Publications + Riso
Help make our monthly magazine (editorial, design, distribution etc) and other publications. Also help folks learn about and use the Riso.
Programs + Activations
Help create and organize educational programming and community events at the space! Organize workshops, reading groups, screenings, readings and more.
Help with overall fundraising efforts (parties, memberships, editions, etc) and help curate and run our storefront.

Sign up below and indicate which area you might be interested in helping out with. There's no minimum commitment in terms of time—but maybe imagine volunteering twice per month might be a good way to get plugged in.
Thanks for signing up!
