Each will receive:– $2,000 USD honorarium– Travel costs: airfare, food, lodging, and transportation– Access to archival footage source material– At least one public screening of their work in both Chicago and St. Petersburg– Visits to cultural organizations in Chicago and St. Petersburg
Requirements:– Each artist will create an approximately 15 minute long found-footage film on their own. Films can be documentary or experimental.– Collaboration will take the form of 3 Skype-based discussions between all artists involved in order to develop project direction and create a relationship between each individual short film.– Must be available for a week-long trip to St. Petersburg and a week-long trip to Chicago in summer 2019 (dates TBD based on selected filmmakers' schedules).
All artists will spend 1 week in St. Petersburg and 1 week in Chicago participating in the following activities: – At least one screening with Q&A afterwards– One workshop– An interview with all artists involved.– Tours of local archives, production studios, artist spaces, etc.
A Russian-English interpreter will participate throughout the project.
