To qualify you must answer yes to each of the following questions:
1- Are you an individual making less than $20,000/year or a family with a total household income of less than $35,000/year?
2- Do you pay 30% or more of your income on rent?
3- Did you file your 2021 taxes?
4- Are you at least 15 years old as of Dec 1st, 2022?
5- Were you a resident of Canada in 2022?
To apply, you will need:
1- The total amount of rent you paid in 2022
2- Name and contact information of whoever you paid rent to
3- Your SIN & date of birth
After applying, if you are registered for direct deposit with the CRA $500 will be deposited into your account within 5 business days, otherwise a check from the CRA will be mailed within 10 business days.
