Let us know where you would like to get involved! Committee meetings will be held once a month, starting in March and then twice a month, if needed, starting in July, with one meeting in September. Work is also accomplished in between meetings, via e-mail and phone. Chapter Regional Development Manager and the Executive Director oversee the fundraising and logistical aspects of the Walk program and lead monthly Committee meetings with the active help of Volunteer Chairs listed below.

1. CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP/CORPORATE TEAM CHAIR
Volunteer would have the ability to recruit their employer and other businesses in the community to support the Walk as Sponsors or as Corporate Walk Teams. A Corporate Walk Team is made up of employees from a company who form their own Team and raise funds for their team. A Walk Sponsor gives corporate money and then receives various levels of advertising from the Chapter for their business. Make contact with other Team Captains and Walkers, with Chapter staff support, who will connect with their employers and local businesses to support the Walk.
2. FAMILY TEAM CHAIR
Works with Chapter staff to create communications to be sent to Team Captains under their name throughout Walk season, encouraging them to take specific steps to form their teams, make self donations and raise money. E-Mail and snail mail communications sent out from the chapter office, with the support of the Family Team Chair. Plays key role in conjunction with Chapter staff in speaking at Walk Kick-Off (pre-Walk) talking with Team Captains, motivating them to get involved to the maximum extent possible.
3. VOLUNTEER CHAIR
Works with Chapter staff to learn current walk day volunteer needs and identify any additional volunteer needs.o Creates volunteer prospect list from clubs and organizations. Secures volunteers for day-of walk with assistance from Chapter staff, by reviewing current e-mail recruiting communications and timeline. Once recruiting begins, assigns responding volunteers to specific tasks in existing spreadsheet of volunteer positions and communicates job, work timeframe and any other walk day information to volunteers 2 weeks prior to walk day. Greets and checks in all volunteers the day-of, distributes site map if needed and any relevant instructions about their volunteer assignment.o Follows up with post-walk thank you letters to volunteers within 2 weeks of the walk.
4. FOOD & BEVERAGE CHAIR
Creates prospect list of companies to solicit for product sponsorship of the walk. Works with Chapter staff to develop a solicitation plan and makes “asks”. Makes follow up calls and secures product. Coordinates delivery of, set-up and distribution of products, morning of Walk. Provides Chapter staff with all contact information of donors and description and amount of donation. Drafts Thank You Letter and works with Chapter staff to get letter out to donor on chapter letterhead no more than 2 weeks after Walk.
5. ENTERTAINMENT CHAIR
Creates an exciting atmosphere for the day of walk utilizing entertainers, decorations, and children’s activities. Secures donated entertainment for the walk. Works with entertainers to discern electrical and staging needs. Works in partnership with Logistics Chair and staff to meet entertainers’ needs. Provides Chapter staff with all contact information of donors and description and amount of donation. Drafts Thank You Letter and works with Chapter staff to get letter out to donor on Chapter letterhead no more than 2 weeks after Walk.
6. ADVERTISING CHAIR
Works with Chapter staff to create advertising – preferably, free - plan for the walk. Creates a plan to distribute Walk yard signs, save-the-date cards, posters and brochures in the community, with local businesses, libraries and walkers and enlist other volunteers for help in distribution. Researches other free advertising opportunities available for getting word out about the Walk (i.e. contacting local tv and radio stations for posting on their community boards and websites) and works with Chapter staff, making sure information/logo is posted accurately.
7. TEAM WEEK CHAIR
Team Week is held in August and is a week where teams are presented with a particular “challenge” for which prizes are given out. Prizes are then delivered to the winner as a “Thank You”. Works with Chapter staff to create list of donated items to secure as Team Week gifts, five given out during the week. Four gifts should have a value of a minimum of $50 –items can be bundled (i.e. $25 gift card to movies, $50 restaurant gift card) and the fifth day item(s) are a minimum value of $250 (i.e. hotel stay, dinner, theater tickets, etc.). Using Chapter letterhead and template letter to edit, solicits establishments, businesses for donated items. Provides Chapter staff with all contact information of donors and description of donation. Drafts Thank You Letter and works with Chapter staff to get letter to donor on Chapter letterhead no more than 2 weeks after Walk.
