NYS Championship:
The Empire Throwing Club is honored to host this year's state championship! What does this mean?
If you win your class you get to proudly say you won your class at the state championship! Since some classes are small, we want to ensure that the title of "State Champion" carries some weight, so we will be following the procedure used at 2023 NYS Champs which is also done in many other states. Apart from the normal scoring of the day, each athlete's throws will be compared decathlon-style against the world records for their own class. At the end of the day, one athlete will emerge victorious as the overall state champion.
The state championship was created by the Buffalo Heavies, so we will continue to follow their longstanding rule that only NYS residents can walk away with the NYS title.
Camping:
On-site camping is available for Thistle Day! Tents and campers are ok. There are no power hookups, fresh water, and no facilities for dumping your poop tank. Generators are okay and there will be porta pottys on site.
