EnviroLab Asia seeks to support 5C faculty who are finalizing any type of academic project (journal article, publication, book, etc.) related to environmental issues in East and Southeast Asia. 5C faculty may apply for the Manuscript Review Fund to complete this academic product. This fund supports the invitation of a guest reviewer (professional academic or expert-in-the-field) to formally review a draft of an academic product with other faculty and students. Funding is available for 2 awards per academic year.
We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, and strongly encourage applicants from the Sciences and/or non-Asian Studies backgrounds to apply.
The application deadline is rolling.
Manuscript Review Fund recipients will be asked to participate in assessment activities and other reporting to the Henry Luce Foundation.
Applications will be evaluated based on the guiding principles of EnviroLab Asia, summarized below:• Create a space for the production of new knowledge about the interaction between nature, the built environment, and human populations in East and Southeast Asia • Utilize cross-disciplinary approaches• Encourage 5C exchanges between and across campuses, utilize the current resources at the Claremont Colleges, and/or encourage community-building between and among 5C campus communities• Increase faculty and students’ capacities to effectively influence debates on environmental issues as well as present innovative solutions to challenges resulting from environmental problems
