Exploring Healthcare
NAMS will begin offering a new Health Science course, Exploring Healthcare, which was developed for middle school students.

Through engaging activities and classroom learning labs, students will begin to explore human body systems and their related careers and medical terminology. We have provided a very brief outline of each grade level’s focus below:

6th Grade

Medical Terminology in Therapeutic Service Careers (Direct Patient Contact)
Focus on Skeletal, Muscular, and Dental Health
Body Systems in Therapeutic Service Careers
Skeletal System
Muscular System
Integumentary System (Skin)

7th Grade

Medical Terminology in Diagnostic Service Careers
Focus on Respiratory, Circulatory, and Forensic Pathology
Body Systems in Diagnostic Service Careers
Respiratory System
Circulatory System

8th Grade

Medical Terminology in Diagnostic Service Careers
Focus on the Nervous Systems, Senses, Microbiology and Bio-statistics
Body Systems in Biotechnology Careers
Central Nervous System
Peripheral Nervous System and the Five Senses
