ASD STEM Academy 2026 Information

Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind is thrilled to announce the 2026 STEM Academy in Talladega, Alabama, taking place May 31–June 19, 2026! This exciting, hands-on experience is designed especially for students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH). This program is offered at no cost to students and their families.

Eligibility Criteria

Students who are DHH and entering grades 10–12 in the fall of 2026, or who graduated in the spring of 2026, are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to applicants who reside in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.


Important Information
  • ⚠️ Spots are limited! Previous academies have filled quickly and included waitlists.
  • Accepted students must confirm their spot and submit all required paperwork within 30 days of notification. Failure to do so, or canceling at a later date, will require reapplication and may result in placement on the waitlist.
  • Students may only attend one STEM Academy session. Please check your availability before applying.
Required Documents

Please be prepared to submit the following documents to finalize your application:
  • Form of Identification (Birth Certificate or State ID)
  • Audiogram
  • IEP or 504 Plan
  • Insurance Card
  • AIDB Release Forms (Download, complete, and sign by a parent/guardian or adult student.)
  • General Medical Exam Form (Must be completed by a licensed healthcare provider, such as a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant.)
