This Friday at 5:30pm, Cat (azine alum!!!) is hosting a workshop from a curriculum called “Empowering Youth through Ethnic Studies and Art Making” that enables marginalized people to explore the stories of communities omitted from standardized curriculum; this includes exploring topics such dis/ablity, race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic status, and de/coloniality. Students will use artmaking to engage in self-reflection and critical dialogue concerning their lived experiences, social identities, and personal/community histories. The clay portrait exercise should be an exercise of self-reflection on the image and the importance of representation.
