2021 JCHS Marching Band Absence Form
In order to make planning for rehearsals easy as possible, we publish our schedules well in advance. The calendar that is available at all times on our website should be regarded as THE LAW when it comes to any band event. Although our organization is large, each individual’s attendance is important at every single rehearsal and performance. It is hard to get better as a band when we are dealing with missing individuals in the group. When one, or a set of individuals miss rehearsal time, the full organization must take the time to go back and make sure the absentees are filled in on all the information they missed. Unexcused absences from rehearsal will result in the loss of performance opportunities and could ultimately result in the student being removed from the program.
Excused Absences Include: Death In The Family, Serious Illness (The kind of illness that would keep you home from school - Doctor and Parent note required), Religious Holiday, Previously Excused Special Circumstance
Unexcused Absences Include: Minor Sickness/Ailment, Doctors Appointment, Homework/School/Projects, Concerts, Job/Work, Family Vacation
Procedures for Handling Pre-Arranged Absence: Fill out this form and submit it AT LEAST ONE WEEK before your scheduled absence. Procedures for Handling Unexpected Absences: Fill out this form and submit it WITHIN 48 HOURS of your absence. Note that each absence will be handled on an individual basis and that absences will only be excused for the above listed reason.
