About Southside Community Land Trust (SCLT) and Groundwork RI (GWRI)
SCLT provides people access to land, education and other resources so that everyone can grow their own food. With SCLT this summer, you will help create community food systems where food is affordable, healthy, environmentally sustainable and culturally appropriate for all.
GWRI is builds healthier, more resilient, and more equitable urban communities in Rhode Island by improving the physical environment and creating economic opportunities for local residents through job training, employment, and social venture programs. With GWRI this summer, you will care for trees and school gardens, conduct outreach to community residents about environmental topics, and learn about environmental justice.
We’re looking for people who :
- Live in Pawtucket/Central Falls, RI
- Be 14-18 years old
- Work well alone or as part of a team
- Be able to commit to an entire 6-week summer program (Monday, July 6th to Friday, August 14th)
- Be willing to work outside, even on rainy or hot days!
- Have reliable transportation to shifts (bike, RIPTA, walking, car, etc) to Pawtucket meeting locations
Program Benefits
Up to 20 hrs of paid work each week ($16 per hour)

Optional trip to New Hampshire White Mountains for a group of youth after program ends
Selection Criteria
Youth staff will be selected based on availability, interest in positively impacting Pawtucket/Central Falls neighborhoods and a willingness to participate in environmental, farming, and food access work. Interested, qualified candidates will be contacted and invited to participate in a group, working interview. All application components must be fully completed for your application to be considered.
