With Youth Orchestra Salinas (YOSAL) Faculty

As far back as the 1930s, jazz musicians were adapting Bach’s music to their own ends. Some played it relatively straight, while others went way around the musical bend. What united all of them was the realization that all of Bach’s music contains the seed of improvisation. We’ll listen to the Modern Jazz Quartet, Uri Caine, Fats Waller, Django Reinhardt, Lee Konitz, Max Roach, Bud Powell, Benny Goodman, and others.

Parking for this event at MIIS will be available on a first-come, first served basis.  Please note that Pierce Street is no longer open to vehicles. The best place to park is in the student parking lot – the entrance is on Van Buren Street, marked with an “X."
