Teen Freelancers are self-driven youth arts leaders! They gain college ready skills in writing, critical thinking and leadership. Freelancers are the key contributors to ArtsConnection's teen blog, The Journal of Art and Reviews (The JAR), where they keep readers up-to-date on the latest and coolest arts events for teen audiences!
➢ Who is eligible to apply?
Freelancers Corps is open to any high school student (9th-12th grades) in NY or NJ who have completed AT LEAST one semester of TRaC and can commit to meeting the expectations of the program.
➢ When does Freelancers' Corps happen?
The 2015 Freelancers' Corps will take place from March through August 2015. Each "TRaC" meets once a week for workshop. And there are 5 additional events (performances, shows, museum or gallery visits, etc.) that may take place immediately following workshop or on a different day.
➢ What happens in the Freelancer Corps?
Throughout the program they:
+ Experience art and culture in NYC for FREE, while being able to express and share your opinions with a wider audience;
+ Publish your writing in our online teen blog, The Journal of Art and Reviews (The JAR);
+ Attend at least 3 freelancer events, including performances, meet-ups, drop-in workshops, and more;
+ Write and submit at least 1 review every other month (total of three reviews) on arts events.
➢ Sounds awesome! What do I need to participate in Freelancers' Corps?
Freelancers' Corps is a FREE program. All you need is to be able to travel to and from events independently, internet access (at school or at home) to keep up with schedule updates, and your guardian's permission. It is important than you can make your own arrangements to travel to and from High 5 Tickets events. ArtsConnection does not provide transportation to arts event or pay for tickets not listed under High 5 Tickets.

After you submit your completed application, you may be contacted to interview. You can expect to be notified about application status by February 20th, 2015. Freelancers begins the second week of May. Can't wait to see you there!
