We are currently in search of actors for the roles of MAXWELL and KEVIN. Based on the book of the same name, the musical is in development and will have various readings in late 2024 (exact dates TBD).
[KEVIN AVERY] Character is a teenage boy, any ethnicity. Kevin has dwarfism. Confident singer. Kevin is intelligent, creative, with an irreverent sense of humor. Kevin can seem odd to others– in part because of his short stature. He’s fiercely loyal to the people closest to him, and has fantastical ideas about chivalry. Everyone calls him “Freak ,” a sobriquet (nick-name) that he is proud of. We are seeking actors from all corners of the little person community.
[MAXWELL KANE] Character is a teenage boy, extremely tall and/or large physical stature, any ethnicity. Confident singer. Max seems frightening to others– in part because he has an above average stature and build. His undiagnosed PTSD has negatively affected his academics, as well as his ability to make friends. Almost everyone around him thinks Max is a butthead, including himself. Despite Max’s tough and imposing exterior, Kevin immediately befriends him and attempts to help Max see the positive things about himself. Max is the narrator of our story.
