FAFSA: The District is Here to Help!
Hello parents, the 2026-2027 FAFSA application is now available and students can complete the form to apply for financial aid for college, career school or graduate school. On 1/16/2024, Governor Phil Murphy signed A1181/S2054 making the completion of a financial aid application form a prerequisite to graduation for high school students in the state of New Jersey. Therefore, in order to obtain a high school diploma, students and their guardians must complete either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the NJ Alternative Financial Aid Application, as guided by HESAA).

The Jersey City Public School District, in a partnership with YPIE (Yonkers Partners in Education), will be conducting two districtwide FAFSA workshops across Jersey City, at no cost to students and guardiansin an effort to provide families the opportunity to complete the FAFSA application with the help of trained volunteers.

1st Parent Workshop
Date: November 15, 2025
Location: William Dickinson High School
Approximate Time: 9:00am to 3:00pm

2nd Parent Workshop
Date: January 10, 2026
Location: Abraham Lincoln High School
Approximate Time: 9:00am to 3:00pm

Our goal is to ensure that all of our high school seniors satisfy their graduation requirement and, therefore, it is our hope that you and your child/children will attend this free workshop on either November 15 or January 10, at one of the two predetermined locations. Please complete the form so the district has an understanding of the number of families that plan to attend and what date/location you'll be attending in order to prepare for this event effectively. We hope to see everyone there!
